Island Def Jam is no more, as UMG announced today that Def Jam, Island, and Motown will all operate independently from here on out. Barry Weiss will be stepping down to “enter into discussions with U.M.G. about a new venture together,” according to Billboard.com. Additionally, Kyambo “Hip Hop” Joshua and Dion “No I.D.” Wilson will serve as executive vice presidents and co-heads of A&R at the label. Stay tuned for more information as it is released.
