Help Deadspin Create A Police-Shooting Database
Last week Deadspin told the world they were going to start “an impossibly ambitious project” to catalogue every incidence of a police shooting in the United States for the past three years. According to their update today, the project is moving much faster than they would have expected due to incredible reader support.
The website has already obtained over 1,500 reports starting in 2011, and these 1,500 reports “have at least one incident logged on over 45 percent of days in those four years.” Considering that this initiative has only been running for 7 days these numbers are pretty astonishing, if not alarming. You can see every submission so far here, and contribute to the database here.
